ARTISTS BIO: Heather Ramsdale (b. 1973) is a Philadelphia-based artist who earned an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and works in sculpture and installation. Her recent ideas explore material limitations and unforeseen outcomes while thinking about patterns, systems, landscapes, and all things that help us occupy our place within a complex world.
Lately, concrete has been a medium that Ramsdale enjoys for its attitude and pushback in the studio, but the artist also incorporates easy access materials such as paper, wood, steel, and found objects. She acknowledges the act of relating to an art object can be serious and poetic and at the same time punctuated with absurdity and humor.
